Ragnar could be a little slimmer, a little faster and a little lighter, but I like it like this, a bit rough and on the heavier side, a bit thick and with a little set due to a little tiller ing mistake, definitively slow but capable to deliver a punch time after time, relentlessly.
It was knifed out of half a vine Maple that grew right besides my cottage on Salt Spring Island, BC and it is the oy one that I didn't sell, exchange or broke.
The string, a Flemish twist, is made by your truly as well and it is a bit too thick and heavy, but I chose back then to play it safe.
A few years ago I managed to have it shipped down here in Baja, along with a few of my arrows, my homemade quiver and my wool camo hunting coat.
The few times I used it, I went shooting trash at unknown range in the hills and arroyos on the edge of town.
He's hanging in my bedroom, waiting faithfully for that flight back to the coastal rainforest of British Columbia where we will harvest another blacktail for the freezer.
