The rotten Barbour bag.
The rotten Barbour bag
has been my most trusted and most used accessory for over 25 years. It was a present from my mom when she joyned us at a Thanksgiving in Woodstock, NY many moons ago.
It has been all of the following:
Laptop carrier, office bag, carry on luggage, overnight bag, shooting (rifle) bench, wing shooting bag, obviously fly fishing bag, chef bag, surf casting bag (for carrying lures), bicycle bag and some other more or less kosher and more or less legal uses.
The saddle leather is holding up pretty well, the y is shit the back and the corner of the pockets are way beyond frayed and long are gone the days when the two smaller didepockets would carry a bottle of Bass Ale each.
On one of mine bicycle rounds, just the other day, I found a sail maker and I think that tomorrow I'll bring it over to get it stitched and patched up with canvas.
I have been trying so many times, over the years, to just let it go but I can't. It carries too many memories of beautiful places, people, fish and situations that I don't want to loose.
I can say it now carries two lives.
